KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Jan. 20, 2022) <\/b>\u2013 <\/span>Swope Health<\/span><\/a> announces that new honorary chairman Wesley Fields will lead the capital campaign for the PACE KC Adult Wellness Center, for which a recent challenge grant of $1.4 million has been issued from the Mabee Foundation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fields is partner in charge of the Kansas City office of Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner LLP, specializing in public finance and corporate transactions. He said of the grant: \u201cSwope Health is truly honored to receive this support toward construction of the new Adult Wellness Center. As the future home of the PACE KC interdisciplinary team, this state-of-the-art facility will enable us to provide a long-term care option for older adults unlike any other in our area.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) is a national program offering a full range of health and wellness services for people age 55 and older to help them age gracefully in their home communities. Swope Health\u2019s capital campaign supports the development of this program in Jackson County, to be called <\/span>PACE KC<\/span><\/a>, along with construction of the Adult Wellness Center as the central hub for most PACE services.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Mabee Foundation, headquartered in Midland, Texas, has assisted non-profit organizations with funding of new construction, building renovations, and the purchase of major medical equipment since 1948. The challenge grant means Swope Health must raise an additional $1,066,649 by Jan. 11, 2023, to receive the Mabee Foundation funds.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

PACE KC will be designed to follow the model used at 140 organizations nationally to offer the entire continuum of care and services to older adults with a proactive, hands-on approach. In addressing the needs of the whole person \u2013 physical, emotional and psychological \u2013 a team of providers works across many disciplines to help PACE members achieve and maintain their health and wellness goals.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe express our sincere gratitude to the Mabee Foundation for this generous grant, and we are very excited to have Wesley Fields\u2019 leadership in this capital campaign,\u201d said Jeron Ravin, JD, Swope Health President and CEO. \u201cWe are well-positioned for success to ensure the comprehensive, personalized care that PACE and Swope Health are both well known for, as well as providing a beautiful addition to neighborhood development with the Adult Wellness Center.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The planned location of the Adult Wellness Center is adjacent to Swope Health Central at 4141 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., with the goal of opening in 2023. Along with clinical spaces to provide primary care, medical services and other therapies, plans include a day center, rehabilitation gym, computer lab, library, arts and crafts room, bathing suite, low-stimulation memory care area, outdoor recreation space and meeting rooms.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe PACE KC program and the Adult Wellness Center will make a tremendous difference in the lives of many older adults in Jackson County,\u201d said Heath Rath, Executive Director of PACE KC. \u201cWe look forward to being able to fully support older adults in living their best life safely at home.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
