{"id":14331,"date":"2023-08-15T13:16:47","date_gmt":"2023-08-15T18:16:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/swopehealth.org\/?p=14331"},"modified":"2024-02-10T08:51:11","modified_gmt":"2024-02-10T14:51:11","slug":"lets-support-breastfeeding-families","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/swopehealth.org\/lets-support-breastfeeding-families\/","title":{"rendered":"Let\u2019s Support Breastfeeding Families"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>August is National Breastfeeding Month, proclaimed by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usbreastfeeding.org\/nbm-proclamation.html\">U.S. Breastfeeding Committee<\/a>, an independent non-profit coalition of more than 100 organizations guiding policies and practices to support breastfeeding.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Swope Health is proud to educate patients, clients, associates, and community partners on the importance of providing support to breastfeeding families.<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>We are committed to the well-being of every person in every community we serve.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">We are hosting a virtual program on <strong>\u201cEnabling Breastfeeding: Making a Difference for Working Parents\u201d from noon-1 pm, Thursday Aug. 31.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The program will feature information about Missouri\u2019s breastfeeding rates, and the laws and initiatives that are designed to support lactating families.<\/p>\n<p>The program can help nursing employees understand their rights in the workplace.<\/p>\n<p>Hosted by Swope Health\u2019s Women Infants and Children (WIC) Office, this event will feature presentations from two special guests:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-14333 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/swopehealth.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/1516499099105-stephanie-pruess-80x80.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"80\" height=\"80\" \/>Stephanie Pruess, RD, LD, IBCLC<strong>,<\/strong> State Breastfeeding Peer Counseling Coordinator for the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, WIC and Nutrition Services; and<\/li>\n<li><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-14332 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/swopehealth.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/1638454608295-lisa-Schlientz-80x80.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"80\" height=\"80\" \/>Lisa Schlientz, MPH, IBCLC, State of Missouri Breastfeeding Coordinator, who works with programs in WIC and Nutrition Services, and Maternal and Child Health.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Registration for the free virtual event is open now.
