Swope Health Launches Purpose-Built Community \u2013 Swope Health Village<\/h1>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Swope Health announces the construction of a new 12-acre multi-phased campus called Swope Health Village, which will turn the 5900 block of Swope Parkway into a modern residential campus offering affordable housing, supportive healthcare services, mental health services, geriatric and aging services, community gardens, and a community center.<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

Swope Health Village is intentionally designed to address health and well-being, reducing health and socioeconomic disparities.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

Swope Health Village plans 200 units of senior affordable housing and 75 units of mental health housing, supported by comprehensive mental health services. Fifteen apartments will support participants in Swope Health\u2019s Programs of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE KC).<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

The project will include an extension of the Kansas City Health Department and 10 additional beds for substance abuse treatment in collaboration with the Kansas City court system, in addition to office and retail space. In support of the project, the City of Kansas City\u00a0has announced<\/a>\u00a0an appropriation of up to $5 million for the project. As a purpose-built community, the project addresses the need for affordable, quality housing units in the neighborhood, and strengthens the neighborhood through a design that brings people together through healthy living.<\/span><\/p>

Further, the purpose-built community is poised to become a driver of economic growth in the region, through capital investment and job creation. The projected investment of $100 million into facilities and services, along with 80 to 90 new quality jobs created in construction and dozens in healthcare, will represent one of the largest East Side investments in decades.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

Demolition of the existing structures on the site began in January 2024, and construction of Swope Health Village will begin in early 2025. Swope Health is partnering with architectural firms Perkins Eastman, HFG Architecture and Moody Nolan for master planning and design support of the campus and residential structures. McCownGordon Construction is the general contractor. Swope Health plans to work with a developer for future phases.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

In addition to support from the City of Kansas City, Swope Health has received a $ 7.5 million American Rescue Plan Act-funded capital improvement allocation from the State of Missouri. The health center will launch a capital campaign to raise the additional funds for construction and program activation.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

A national model for innovative collaboration to open in fall, 2025.

Swope Health, in collaboration with Kansas City Kansas Community College (KCKCC) has embarked on a campaign to build a new Kansas City Kansas Community Education, Health and Wellness Center. The Center will provide a service hub to help address the health and education inequities that prevail in downtown Kansas City, Kansas.

Swope Health will open a state-of-the-art Women\u2019s and Children\u2019s Center covering the entire fourth floor of the 100,000 square-foot building. The new clinic will offer pediatrics, Ob\/Gyn and well-woman services, a WIC office, on-site behavioral health services and a dental clinic for all. This will represent Swope Health\u2019s third clinic in Wyandotte County and fourth clinic in Kansas. We hope to serve 6,000 patients annually at the Women\u2019s and Children\u2019s Center. Project partners envision shared clients once those presenting for care or services from one agency become aware of other opportunities for education, health and behavioral health services, community supports and other assistance.
